28th – 29th October 2012 - The annual October Race meeting has always proven to be a favourite by all and it is a fantastic weekend of great racing and great craic! Children under 14 have free admission during the weekend.

30th June - 8th July- The Volvo Ocean Race will come to an end in Galway making it the biggest event the city has ever held. The 8 day festival will take place in the Docks area and Global Village located across the harbour. The Galway Global Village will feature shows, exhibitions, entertainment and an unprecedented Grand Finale to the Volvo Ocean Race 2011-2012.

The Galway Theatre Festival will take place from October 22nd to 25th at the Nuns Island studio. An interesting festival which will feature plenty local creations.
Mephisto Theatre presents 'The World's Wife' in Nuns Island on Friday 24 and Saturday 25 October at 8pm and 1pm.
Moonfish Theatre will present 'After the End' in Nuns Island on Saturday 25 October at 8pm.
Galway’s Selkie Theatre will present 'Goodwill, a powerful and provocative new play written by local playwright Patrick Collins. Dates and times to be announced.
